Quiz funnels that turn cold ad traffic into buyers

A quiz asks the visitor about their problem before it asks for money. We write, design and code quiz funnels into your Shopify theme, then split test them against the page your ads use now.

Why a quiz works on cold traffic.

Someone who just saw your ad doesn't know your brand yet. A product page asks them to buy right away. A quiz asks them to talk about themselves first.

Each answer is a small yes. By the last question they have described their problem in their own words, and the product shows up as the answer to it.

The answers also sort your buyers. Two people with different problems can land on different results, offers and bundles from the same ad.

Step by step

How we build a quiz funnel.

  1. 1

    Questions that diagnose

The first questions are easy: age, the main problem, how long it has been going on. Then come the ones about what they have tried before. That sets up why the product is different.

  2. 2

A short break every few questions

Every three or four questions there is a step with no question. It explains the cause of the problem for someone with their answers, with reviews from real buyers.

  3. 3

The product stays hidden until the end

The middle of the quiz never names or shows the product. It sells the diagnosis first, so the product arrives as the answer to a question the visitor just helped ask.

  4. 4

    Email before the result

We ask for the email right before the result page, so the result is the reward for giving it. You keep the lead even when they don't buy that day.

  5. 5

A result page that reads like it was written for them

Their answers fill in the result: the problems they picked, how long they have had them, and an honest timeline for what to expect.

  6. 6

One offer page at the end

The quiz ends on a buy box with your bundles. Every quiz for a product ends on the same buy box, so one offer test covers all of them.

What we test on a quiz.

On Primal Viking the short quiz beat its long control on conversion rate in every pair we ran. On the Original quiz, the short emoji version beat the photo version and the long emoji version lost to it.

So we test length and answer style on every brand, along with the offer at the end.

  • Short against long: fewer questions against more education
  • Photos against emojis on the answer buttons
  • The offer on the result page: bundles, subscription, price
  • A new quiz against the page your ads send traffic to now, split in the ad account

Questions founders ask us.

The ones that come up on almost every call.

As many as it needs to diagnose the problem and no more. We usually build a long and a short version and let the traffic decide. On Primal Viking the short one won every time.
