Men's testosterone supplement

Primal Viking: $1.72M in net sales through quiz funnels

Primal Viking sells a testosterone supplement to men from 30 to 55 who deal with low energy and belly fat. We built their cold traffic funnels as quizzes on native Shopify templates, then tested short against long, emojis against photos, and one offer against another.

What we built.

Five quiz funnels, each with a long version and a short version. The Original and Reindeer quizzes share the same questions and copy and differ only in the offer at the end.

Two emoji quizzes followed, at the owner's request: emojis instead of photos on the answer buttons, and fewer teaching steps. The long version has 17 steps and the short one 11.

Every quiz is a native section in the Shopify theme. The button on the result page links to a setting the team can change without code.

What the tests showed.

  • The short quiz beat its long control on conversion rate in every pair: Original, Reindeer, Emoji Reindeer and Emoji Original.
  • The best page was the short Reindeer quiz: 2.46% conversion rate and $2.00 in net sales per session, against 1.42% and $1.24 for the long control.
  • The long Reindeer control still brought in about 59% of all quiz net sales, because it carried the most traffic. Its conversion rate rose from 0.45% in May to 2.32% in September as monthly sessions grew from 73,000 to 280,000.
  • The long emoji version of the Original quiz was the one clear loser, at 0.61%.

What we would do again.

  1. 01

Build the long and the short version together and let the traffic pick. Short won every pair here, and we still would not assume it wins on the next brand.

  2. 02

Keep one set of questions and change the offer at the end. A new offer then needs a new result page, not a new quiz.

Sessions are Shopify sessions landing on the page. Orders and net sales are attributed by Shopify's order landing page, so revenue is a floor. Net sales are gross sales minus discounts and returns. Highlighted: the page with the best conversion rate.
